Each school within BDMAT is supported by its own Local Academy Board (LAB), a sub- committee of the Trust’s Board of Directors. LAB members are formally appointed by the Trust and bring a range of perspectives, including parent, staff, community and, in church schools, church representation.
The LAB plays a key role in providing local oversight and support, helping to ensure the school continues to thrive. Its responsibilities include monitoring pupil achievement, overseeing finance, supporting the development of the school’s ethos, and supporting effective practice in areas such as curriculum, staffing and health and safety. They have a particularly important function ensuring positive engagement with the local community.
